Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Will It Take
First Visits are generally 90 minutes, and follow-up visits range between 45 minutes to one hour.

Intake Process
We begin the session with an in-depth intake and diagnostic process where we take some time to learn more about you. Our conversation is key to the diagnostic process. It gives us a chance to best review your past health history, and understand more about your current condition.

This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have, to ensure that you are completely comfortable during your treatment.  We will also discuss any other health or fitness goals you have, which may contribute to your treatment plan.

Treatment Plan

Based on our diagnosis we will design a "treatment plan" tailored uniquely to your needs. This will follow the intake process.

It may include any combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, therapeutic bodywork or life-style and nutritional consultation over one or more office visits. Treatment can vary greatly, depending on your individual constitution and health considerations.

What to Wear
It's best to wear or bring loose fitting, comfortable clothing for your treatment session. You will most often remain fully clothed during your treatment.

In cases where partial disrobing is more appropriate to facilitate access to a body area, or if you would prefer to partially disrobe, gowns and linens are always available.

We want to ensure that you feel comfortable throughout the process, so please let us know how you would be most comfortable.

Eating Before Treatment - Not Full, Not Empty
It is best to be neither hungry nor extremely full during your treatment.

Please be sure to eat 1-2 hours before your appointment. It is also best to avoid extreme sweets, caffeine and alcohol in this same time frame.
On the Table
Once acupuncture needles have been placed in your body or other treatment therapies applied, we will put on soft music for you, and usually leave you to rest in the quiet of the treatment room.

Most people look forward to this time  to simply relax during an otherwise hectic day and generally feel refreshed afterwards.

We will always be near enough to know if you need something, and are often quietly sitting nearby, writing notes on your treatment plan.

Follow-up Visits
Follow-up visits typically last 45 minutes to one hour.

These visits also begin with an intake and diagnostic process based on your previous visits. We will focus primarily on your progress and any changes in your condition, as well as any new concerns.
How Long & How Often Will I Need to Come
Your individual needs determine how often and for how long you will need to receive treatment. In general, treatment is given at least once, occasionally twice, a week.

As your condition improves, and your symptoms resolve, the frequency of your treatments will be slowly reduced to every other week, monthly or even seasonally.
