Phil is a Nationally Board Certified, New York State Licensed Acupuncturist and Traditional
Chinese Medicine Practitioner. He is also a Certified Detox Specialist.
His scope of practice includes Acupuncture, Herbal
Medicine, and Tui Na Bodywork - along with a full scope of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
He is also Credentialed at Beth Israel Medical
Center, and provides inpatient care throughout the hospital, with a focus on Orthopedic Surgery &
Rehabilitation.
At Seven Point Wellness Phil oversees
Physical Conditioning & Injury Management,
and Surgical Readiness & Recovery Services, with specialized programs for beginning and professional Athletes.
In our clinic he treats a wide range of health issues, including Neuro-degenerative illnesses, like Parkinson's and Multiple Sclerosis, but
has become known for his work with chronic and acute musculoskeletal injury. This includes treatment of pre and post Orthopedic surgical recovery and rehabilitation.
Treatment plans range from the healthy maintenance of everyday aches and pains, to the repair and rehabilitation of serious
injury.
Phil has also designed specific protocols for "new athletes" just beginning a fitness program, and working through the challenges their
bodies encounter. With professional athletes, he focuses on preparation for seasonal sports and post-event recovery (marathon, triathlon. etc.) - to help them compete at their very best, while
maintaining a healthy balance during and after training.
As a Certified Zheng Gu Tui Na practitioner, Phil’s
patients benefit from his in depth understanding of body mechanics and manual therapies. Like Acupuncture, Tui Na relies on the principle that illness is caused by blockages in the Qi - the
body's energy flow. Manipulating muscles, joints and tendons brings Qi levels back into balance, helping treat back pain, sprains, tennis elbow and more.
He supplements treatment with corrective exercises combined with the use of topical poultices,
plasters and liniments. This approach provides for optimal results, without the side effects that pharmaceuticals sometimes produce.
At Beth Israel Medical Center, he has designed the Acupuncture protocols for the Department of
Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation. Soon to be completed, is a Peri-Operative Spine Study, that he is coordinating with Dr. Arya Nielsen in collaboration
with The Spine Institute of New York.
He also regularly works with singers, dancers, actors and musicians from the Actor's
Guild sponsored Al Hirschfeld Clinic.
